The World As Will and Wallpaper

This story by R.A Lafferty was one of the first stories that triggered my love for science fiction. It’s really incredible. I’ll give the plot away, so stop reading unless you want to know. Basically it’s about a future earth where mankind has managed to cover every single surface, including the water. This makes civilization an endless series of wonders, which is both miraculous and incredible. Except for one thing…the main designer of such an incredible system also designed one other thing – wallpaper. It is a story of revelation and shock, and I have never quite gotten over it. The surprise of it all.
